Intensive Anxiety Therapy Retreats

Deep Healing Beyond Surface Symptoms

Transform Your Relationship with Anxiety Through Multi-Day Intensive Therapy

Are you tired of managing anxiety symptoms without experiencing lasting relief? At Soul & Psyche, we offer a revolutionary approach to anxiety therapy that goes beyond traditional weekly sessions. Our multi-day intensive therapy retreats combine specialized trauma processing modalities to address the deeper roots of anxiety disorders, helping you reclaim your peace, authenticity, and inner strength.

Based in California and serving clients throughout the state, we provide both online therapy and in-person intensive retreat experiences designed for individuals ready to move beyond coping toward genuine transformation. We also welcome English-speaking clients from international locations who are seeking specialized intensive anxiety therapy.

The Foundation of Our Partnership: 23 Years of Shared Growth

The foundation of our work extends far beyond clinical expertise – it is captured in our 23-year relationship to one another, a partnership that has weathered seasons of growth, held space for each other's evolution, and deepened our capacity to hold space for others. This profound professional and personal bond creates a unique therapeutic environment where healing can flourish through the depth of trust, understanding, and complementary strengths we bring to every client interaction.

Rather than simply alleviating surface-level expressions such as depression and anxiety, our practice seeks to uncover and heal the underlying wounds and unmet needs that give rise to these symptoms. Central to our approach is guiding clients on a journey of self-discovery, helping them fulfill the fundamental human need to realize their True Self.

Why Traditional Anxiety Therapy Often Falls Short

Many people with anxiety disorders have tried various treatments for anxiety – from talk therapy to traditional weekly sessions – yet continue to experience persistent symptoms. Traditional approaches often focus on managing anxiety symptoms rather than addressing the underlying wounds, trauma, and disconnection from your True Self that fuel anxiety disorders.

Our clients typically come to us having experienced:

  • Persistent anxiety despite previous therapeutic efforts

  • Complex trauma from family systems, professional environments, or religious institutions

  • Emotional exhaustion from carrying the weight of unprocessed experiences

  • Shame, self-worth issues, and esteem problems affecting daily functioning

  • Effects of neglect, verbal, or physical abuse creating ongoing anxiety patterns

  • Burnout, compassion fatigue, hypervigilance, and loneliness

  • The psychological demands of high-level success and leadership responsibilities

  • For those with stable recovery (12+ months of sobriety), underlying trauma and emotional pain that contributed to past substance use patterns

Our Specialized Approach to Anxiety Disorders

Multi-Day Intensive Therapy Retreats

Our signature anxiety therapy approach centers on multi-day intensive retreats that provide sustained therapeutic attention impossible to achieve in traditional weekly sessions. This concentrated format allows for profound transformation that can shift long-standing anxiety disorder patterns in days rather than months or years.

Day One: Foundation and Safety The first day focuses on establishing a trusting relationship, sharing information about your life experience and goals for the retreat, and developing a sense of safety so that you will be ready to move forward with intensive therapeutic work.

Subsequent Days: Deep Processing The afternoon of your first day and following days focus on using the most effective trauma processing modalities to clear traumatic memories and help you move forward in your life. We utilize specialized approaches – EMDR, Ego State Therapy and IFS theory, Image Transformation Therapy (ImTT), and Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST).

Integration and Transition Your retreat concludes with integration work ensuring you can take your newfound ease and insights into daily life, providing practical strategies for continued growth and maintaining transformation.

Ego State Therapy and IFS Theory

Our approach integrates Ego State Therapy and IFS theory to address internal conflicts and fragmentation underlying persistent anxiety disorder patterns. These complementary approaches recognize that we all have different internal "parts" or ego states, some of which developed protective strategies – including anxiety – in response to past wounds.

Through Ego State Therapy and IFS theory work, we help you develop a compassionate relationship with anxious parts while accessing your core Self – the wise, calm, confident essence capable of leading your internal system with clarity and compassion. This approach supports clients who are ready to know and integrate their often unacknowledged shadow aspects of the ego – the parts that cling to control and resist vulnerability.

Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST)

Kimberly Sanders brings specialized expertise as a Level III Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment practitioner, trained directly by Dr. Janina Fisher. TIST is designed to help individuals develop internal resources necessary for processing trauma and managing anxiety disorders effectively.

This modality focuses on building stability and capacity before processing traumatic material, ensuring clients have internal resources necessary to integrate healing safely and sustainably. TIST is particularly effective for individuals who have experienced complex trauma or whose anxiety disorders stem from early developmental experiences.

Image Transformation Therapy (ImTT)

ImTT works directly with imagery, memories, and internal representations maintaining anxiety disorder patterns. Many individuals with anxiety disorders carry vivid internal images of feared outcomes, past traumatic events, or negative self-perceptions that continue triggering anxious responses.

This specialized approach transforms these internal images, reducing their emotional impact while creating new, empowering internal representations that support calm, confidence, and emotional regulation.

Types of Anxiety Disorders We Treat

Our comprehensive anxiety therapy addresses various anxiety disorders:

Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Persistent, excessive worry about multiple life areas creating constant tension and hypervigilance that interferes with daily functioning.

Panic Disorder: Sudden, intense panic attacks including physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing, and intense fear of losing control.

Social Anxiety Disorder: Intense fear of social situations, public speaking, or being judged by others, often leading to significant social avoidance.

Specific Phobias: Intense fear of particular objects, situations, or activities that creates significant distress and avoidance behaviors.

People with anxiety disorders often experience both psychological symptoms and physical symptoms of anxiety, including muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, sleep problems, and other symptoms that create cycles of fear and avoidance.

Beyond Symptom Management: Addressing Root Causes

Healing Shame and Self-Worth Issues

Many individuals struggling with anxiety disorders experience fundamental disconnection from their inherent worth. This manifests in painful relationship patterns, persistent self-criticism, or chronic feelings of inadequacy that fuel ongoing anxiety about performance, acceptance, and safety.

Our work specifically addresses shame, self-worth issues, and esteem problems through therapeutic approaches helping you recognize and reclaim your inherent worth, often producing profound shifts in anxiety disorder patterns.

Integrating Shadow Aspects

Central to our approach is helping clients ready to integrate often unacknowledged shadow aspects of the ego – parts that cling to control, resist vulnerability, or maintain protective patterns no longer serving you. Anxiety disorders often involve shadow aspects carrying fear, shame, or unprocessed pain from past experiences.

By fostering deep inner work and authentic connection to the self, our practice empowers lasting change, greater freedom, and a more meaningful, conscious life.

Reconnecting with Your True Self

At our work's heart is the fundamental human need to realize and embody your True Self – the authentic, wise, compassionate core beneath layers of protection, conditioning, and wounding. Anxiety disorders often develop when we disconnect from this essential self, leading to vulnerability, instability, and fear.

Specialized Treatment Areas

Post-Traumatic Stress and Complex Trauma

Much of our work focuses on anxiety disorders stemming from various trauma forms – relational trauma, institutional betrayal, natural disasters, or significant life transitions. Our specialized trauma processing modalities effectively address how past experiences continue impacting current anxiety disorder patterns.

Drawing from our extensive backgrounds in clinical work, research, and diverse therapeutic settings, we bring deep understanding of how trauma manifests and can be healed through intensive therapeutic work.

Depression and Anxiety Disorders

Many clients deal with complex interplay between anxiety disorders and depression – conditions that often reinforce each other and stem from similar underlying wounds. Our intensive approach effectively addresses this combination by working with trauma, self-worth issues, and disconnection from authentic self underlying both conditions.

Spiritual Abuse and Religious Trauma

We have expertise in addressing spiritual abuse and religious trauma that can create profound anxiety disorders and spiritual crisis. Many individuals have experienced betrayal, manipulation, or abuse within religious or spiritual contexts that leaves lasting wounds affecting their relationships with themselves, others, and their spiritual life.

Our approach recognizes the unique challenges of healing from spiritual abuse, including ways religious trauma can create anxiety disorders around trust, authority, and spiritual connection. Through our compassionate, non-denominational approach, we help clients heal from religious wounds while honoring their authentic spiritual journey.

Trauma-Focused Work for Those in Stable Recovery

For individuals with stable recovery (12+ months of sobriety) who are ready for deeper healing work, we address underlying trauma, shame, and emotional pain that may have contributed to past substance use patterns. Our approach is trauma-focused rather than addiction-specific, emphasizing healing the root wounds that created vulnerability to addictive patterns.

We clarify that our expertise comes from extensive trauma work rather than decades of addiction-specific training. Our focus is on helping individuals who have established stable recovery to address deeper psychological and spiritual wounds through intensive trauma processing.

Somatic Integration and Embodied Healing

Kimberly's over 700 hours of yoga teacher training and somatic healing background brings essential embodied dimensions to our anxiety treatment. Dr. Hamilton's background in theatre arts and spiritual direction brings unique creative and spiritual dimensions to our therapeutic work. Many clients find that anxiety disorders limit their creative expression and authentic self-presentation, and our approach helps restore access to creativity, spontaneity, and authentic self-expression.

Online Therapy and In-Person Options

Soul & Psyche offers both online therapy and in-person services, recognizing different individuals have varying preferences and needs for anxiety therapy. Our online therapy provides accessibility for clients throughout California and internationally, while our intensive retreats offer immersive experiences many find most transformative.
